Akron lesbian-gay youth group moves to larger quarters

by Doreen Cudnik

Responding to a need for a larger and more centrally located meeting space, Presence and Respect for Youth in Sexual Minority (PRYSM), Akron's only support group for lesbian, gay and bisexual youth, has moved to the YMCA at 110 Goodyear Blvd.

The Akron group is a program of the Cleveland Lesbian-Gay Center and was modeled after the successful youth group already in place there. Since last September, Akron PRYSM has been providing a weekly discussion group for young people 22 and under with questions or concerns about sexual identity or the lesbian and gay community.

Meeting times for the Akron group remain the same, Saturdays at 11:30 am, and the number 6-6A and 30-30A bus lines stop right in front of the new location. For more information, call 216-258-3652.

Not showtunes

While most gay rockers have tried to hide their orientation to maintain their careers, Pansy Division has tried the opposite approach-to be boldly out as possible and let the chips fall where they may.

Pansy Division, queercore rockers from San Francisco, will be in Cincinnati at Sudsy Malones on July 20, in Cleveland Heights at

A gay Cedar Point weekend

You know the feeling-summer's almost over and you realize that you haven't made it out to the amusement park because of lack of planning. Well, Lorain native Elayna Jordan and her America Online group have handled all the details and planned a gay gathering at Cedar Point in Sandusky.

Nearly 100 people, mostly lesbians and bisexual women, will be meeting on August 25, 26 and 27. Fifty rooms have been reserved for Friday and Saturday night at the Comfort Inn in Sandusky, about five miles from Cedar Point. The cost of the rooms are $124 per night, or $62 per night if you bring your sweetie or a roommate. On Friday afternoon, there will be a reception and pool party (the hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool). The group will spend Saturday and Sunday at the amusement park.

To reserve a hotel room, contact Shawn Roth at the Comfort Inn at 419-621-0200 or 419-627-1671. You may leave your a credit card number, or send a check for the first night's stay only, $124, plus $10 per person to help pay for the catering service. To reserve a room, you must give the group identification, which is "Jord." The mailing ad-
